When Should You Reseal Concrete? A Simple Field Test
Sealers wear out invisibly until they don't. Use this 30-second water test to know whether your driveway, patio, or warehouse floor is due.
Pour a small cup of water onto the concrete and wait 60 seconds. If it beads up and sits on the surface, your sealer is still doing its job. If it darkens the slab and soaks in, the sealer is gone.
Most penetrating sealers in Florida last three to seven years. Topical sealers — especially on exterior surfaces with sun exposure — last one to three.
Resealing on schedule is dramatically cheaper than dealing with the staining, freeze-thaw (yes, even here, in the panhandle), and surface deterioration that follow unsealed concrete.
