How to Care for a Newly Restored Marble Floor

By Adolfo Miranda · April 12, 2026

Diamond-honed marble is a long-term asset — if you protect it. Five simple habits that keep your floor looking the way it did the day we left.

Restored marble is softer than most people realize. The same calcium carbonate that gives it its glow is also what makes it react to acids — citrus, wine, certain cleaners, and even some bottled water.

Rule one: never clean marble with anything labeled 'multi-surface' unless the bottle explicitly says stone-safe and neutral-pH. A microfiber mop and warm water handles 90% of routine cleaning.

Rule two: put felt pads on every chair and table leg, and walk-off mats at every entrance. Most marble damage is mechanical — grit grinding under furniture or shoes.

Rule three: blot spills immediately. Marble etches in seconds with anything acidic. Blot, don't wipe.

Rule four: have us re-polish high-traffic lanes every 18–24 months. It is a fraction of the cost of a full restoration and keeps the floor on a forever-maintenance loop instead of a replacement loop.
